SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) raised Saint Leo women's tennis team's national ranking by four spots, jumping from seven to three in Wednesday's Division II release.
The Lions hold a 3-1 overall record, after going 1-1 at home. The Green and Gold defeated two nationally ranked opponents in then No. 3 Columbus State (4-3) and No.12 North Georgia (6-1).
The Lions have won 4-of-8 doubles competitions.
Holding the number one spot for Saint Leo singles is
Marta Vicens Miquel holding a 3-1 record.
Kristyna Jurkova follows in second singles with a 2-2 record.
Nina Furmaniak owns third singles with a perfect 4-0 mark. Furmaniak has topped two nationally-ranked opponents in the form of No. 46 Candice Paya of No. 3 Columbus State and No. 39 Holly Benett of the No.12 North Georgia program.
