SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 23
rd-ranked Saint Leo baseball team took down Valdosta State in extra innings Tuesday night inside Thomas B. Southard Stadium. The Lions led for most of the contest but a late rally by the Blazers forced the contest into extra innings. Senior
Peyton Isaacson stepped into the batter's box in the bottom of the tenth with runners on first and second and delivered the walk-off RBI single to -left field which gave the Lions a 6-5 victory.

The Lions improve their season record to 7-4 while the Blazers fell to 8-4 on the year.

Jared Morello and redshirt senior
Derek Gibree all picked up two hits in the victory with Morello and Gibree going 2-for-4 and Wright going 2-for-5. Wright had three RBI, a double, a walk and two runs scored while Morello had a walk and a hit by pitch. Gibree pitched in an RBI, a run scored and a walk. Isaacson tallied two RBI despite going 1-for-5 at the plate. Â Â

On the mound the Lions used five pitchers with junior
Kaleb Huxford picking up the start and going 4.0 innings with two strikeouts, a walk and on run given up. Sophomore
McCabe Sargent pitched the next 4.0 innings with four strikeouts, three walks and three runs given up. Isaacson, junior
Trevor Sanchez and redshirt sophomore
Jeremy Peel combined for the final 2.0 innings with Peel taking home the victory. Peel pitched the final inning with two strikeouts and a walk given up. He did not allow a hit in the contest.

Valdosta State used a total of nine pitchers in the loss with Anthony Dahl taking home his first defeat of the season after pitching 1.1 innings and allowing the game-winning run.

Four Blazers picked up hits in the contest with Mack Hathcock leading the way with four RBI including a game-tying three-run home run in the fifth.

The Lions will now begin preparations for their Sunshine State Conference opener this Friday, February 22 at 6 p.m. as the Lynn Fighting Knights come to town for a three-game set.
