SAINT LEO, Fla. – In the lowest scoring contest of the season so far for the 23
rd-ranked Saint Leo baseball team, the Lions fell 3-1 Friday night to Sunshine State Conference foe Lynn inside Thomas B. Southard Stadium. The Saint Leo pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts in the game but it was not enough to hold of the Fighting Knights who plated three runs off of 11 hits on the night.

The Lions' bats fell quiet for the first time this season as Saint Leo produced four hits including one extra base knock while striking out 12 times. Junior

Jacob Reimold and sophomore
Danny Torres were the only four Lions to reach base via the hit with Wright providing the lone extra base hit with an RBI double in the third.

Joey Antonopoulos started the game on the mound for the Lions and went just 2.1 innings while allowing five hits and two runs. He struck out six but allowed four walks. Redshirt sophomore
Jeremy Peel had one of the best performances of his young career as he went 6.1 innings in relief with 11 Ks and just one walk. He allowed six hits and one run which came off a fluke hit that saw the Lions left fielder fall down while trying to make the fly ball catch. Freshman
Brady McGarry picked up the final out for the Lions pitching staff as he entered in the ninth with two outs and struck out the lone batter he faced.

Nicholis Prather pitched a gem for the Fighting Knights as he went 7.1 innings with 11 strikeouts and just two free passes. He allowed just three hits in the game and picked up his second win of the season. Jake Buxbaum closed out the game for Lynn as he pitched the final 1.2 innings with a strikeout and one hit allowed for his first save of the season.

Lynn tallied two runs in the third and a third in the seventh to capture the 3-1 victory. The Lions lone run came in the third off a two-out RBI double from Wright.

The Lions and Fighting Knights will conclude their three-game series tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. start doubleheader.
