SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo women's lacrosse junior
Ashley Salvett was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Women after helping guide the Lions to a 2-0 opening weekend.
Saint Leo posted a 15-8 win over Rockhurst to open the season before a 20-5 dominating win over Westminster. Between the two games, the Clay, New York product tallied 12 ground balls and caused eight turnovers allowing the Lions to focus on the attack.
The SSC weekly honor marks the first for the team this season while it is also Salvett's first in her Green and Gold career.
The Lions return to action on March 1 when the Green and Gold take on Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C.
