SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 9 Saint Leo Lions registered a 27-8 win over the Notre Dame De
Namur Argonauts, a new program record for goals in a game. The Green and Gold saw 21 different Lions earn a point while 18 different sticks scored at University Turf Stadium on Monday night.
Saint Leo (2-0) put up 61 shots by 22 different players.
Liam Mueller dished out six points scoring a goal and five assists in the Lions dominant win. Philip
Buque, the Sunshine State Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, scored a goal and three assists. Charlie
Kurtenbach handed in a hat-trick and an assist for a four-point performance.
Mitchell Bye matched
Buque and
Kurtenbach's four points off a pair of goals and assists.
Tyler Eames also caught fire scoring a hat-trick.
In goal, Ian
Areford collected nine saves after 45 minutes of work.
Terance Hill finished up the work between the pipes where he earned three stops.
Notre Dame De
Namur (0-3) found the back of the net once in the first quarter, twice in the second, scored a trio in the third and another pair in the fourth. The Argonauts were paced by Ethan Gilbert with four goals. Garrett Netter was charged with the loss in the net after earning 11 saves.
Up next, Saint Leo will be challenged on the road for the first time along with meeting its first nationally-ranked opponent. On Sunday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m., No. 9 Saint Leo will meet No. 6 Limestone in Savannah, Ga.
