MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team fell 68-65 in non-conference action at the Montevallo Falcons on Wednesday. The midweek action saw the Falcons take flight in the third quarter. Despite the Lions last quarter efforts, it was too little too late to close the gap. The decision moved the Green and Gold's record to 1-2 while the hosts extended their perfect season run to 3-0.
 
Alani Gallagher spearheaded the Lions efforts in the Trustmark Arena. The junior forward notched a double-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds. She was supported by Casey O'Shaughnessy with 13 points and Alex Button with 11. Button also helped off the glass with nine rebounds.
 
Saint Leo held a six-point lead, 25-19, at the half, keeping Montevallo to one basket in the second. The Falcons took off in the third, tallying a 10-point run for a lead change, on their way to a 31-point quarter. The Lions chipped away at the gap in the fourth but it would prove to be too little too late.
 
"Hats off to Montevallo for playing as hard as they did," said head coach Anthony Crocitto. "We certainly were resilient coming back from being down a dozen in the fourth, but in the end, we didn't make enough plays to get over the top. I was proud of our fight but these are the games we have to win-even on the road under hostile circumstances. Today was a great life lesson and we will be better because of it."

• Gallagher has earned a double-double in two straight appearances. The forward has record two double-doubles so far during her junior campaign.
• Gallagher's 22 points sets her 2019-2020 season-high, outscoring her sophomore season-high of 18 points. Her 26 points over Johnson & Wales on Dec. 12, 2017 still stands as her career-high.
