BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team fell 4-1 to the No. 3 Lynn Fighting Knights in the Bobby Campbell Stadium on Wednesday night.
Mauro Diaz' goal kept the Lions at pace with the Fighting Knights, 1-1 in the 35
th minute of the game, but would be answered by a trio of Lynn goals before the final whistle. The Sunshine State Conference decision moved the Lions' overall record to 6-9, 3-6 SSC while the Fighting Knights improved their season to 12-0-1, 8-0-1 SSC.
Mauro Diaz came off the bench pacing the offense with two shots. His goal was assisted by
Elias Niesigk and
Guillaume Campos. Campos dished out a beautiful long cross that was headed to the top of the box by Niesigk where Diaz's bicycle kick jolted to the right side of the back of the net.
Lynn put up nine shots over the Saint Leo's five. Fighting Knights' goalkeeper Fuhry Konstantin walked away with three saves while
Wessel Berenschot would return home with none.
The Lions prepare for their final game at the Saint Leo Soccer Field. On Saturday, Nov. 2, Saint Leo will host the University of Mary at 4 p.m. Before the kickoff, Saint Leo will honor its' nine seniors;
