Tritons Hand Lions First Home Loss of the Season

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team suffered its first home loss of the season after facing the Eckerd Tritons in a 3-0 final at the Saint Leo Soccer Field on Wednesday. Eckerd pulled ahead of Saint Leo in the 21st minute and secured the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) contest with a pair in the second half.
 
Eckerd's (6-2-1, 2-1-0 SSC) Ty Dolan netted his season's first goal with a rocket from the top of the box. The strike was the only shot placed on frame in the first half by either team.
 
The Tritons found the back of the Lions' net twice in the latter half of the second. In the 78th minute, Agustin Pertusso converted a penalty kick scoring his seventh goal as the team's leading scorer. Ty Dolan put the icing on the cake, netting his second goal of the game in the 86th minute.

Saint Leo (4-5-0, 1-2-0 SSC) generated eight shots throughout the 90 minutes but was only able to force one save by the Tritons. Federico Toschi led the Green and Gold's offensive efforts with three shots.

Christian Evans showcased two saves in his fourth start of 2019. The loss moved the senior goalkeeper's record between the pipes to 2-2.
 
After three straight home games, Saint Leo hits the road on Wednesday, Oct. 9 to face Rollins following a bye weekend.
