How It Happened
  • Asia Royster scored five of the Lions' seven points in the uninterrupted opening 7-0 run. After three ties in the first quarter, 7-7, 9-9, and 14-14, Saint Leo saw Gina Brierley's second free throw give the Green and Gold a 15-14 first quarter lead.
  • After a quick tie by the Sailfish, Olivia Lough drained a three to push Saint Leo ahead, 18-16. The Lions climbed out to a five-point lead, 21-16 before PBA erased that and took a 26-24 lead with 4:56 to go in the opening half. The Sailfish would ride a three-point lead, 32-29, heading into the break.
  • Asia Royster's opening third quarter three tied things once again at 32 all before PBA ran out to a 40-34 lead. The Lions battled and tied things back up at 46 on an Alani Gallagher layup. A tight third quarter ended in favor of the Sailfish by one point, 50-49.
  • The Lions saw Casey Wortley open the final stanza with a layup before the Sailfish tied things again on a free throw, 51-51. Saint Leo would claim a lead with 7:10 remaining, and never let the lead slip pushing it to eight points, 64-56, before going on for a seven-point win, 66-59 on two game-ending free throws by Casey Wortley. The Lions held the Saiflish to just nine points in the final period on their way to a victory.
