SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University baseball team has received several preseason accolades from a variety of publications leading up to its season opener Friday, February 1.

Recently, Lions senior
Peyton Isaacson was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Preseason All-South Region First Team as a utility player while also being named to the Collegiate Baseball Newsletter (CBN) South Region Preseason All-American list as an infielder/utility player.

Joining Isaacson on the NCBWA list was senior catcher
Brett Coffel who was named to the Preseason All-South Region Second Team. Junior outfielder
Amir Wright was tabbed a CBN South Region Player to Watch while junior transfer
Jacob Reimold picked up a Newcomers to Watch honor from the CBN.

As a squad the Lions were ranked 24
th in the 2019 Perfect Game NCAA Division II Preseason Top 25 and will face off against Perfect Game's preseason No. 1 ranked team North Greenville on February 1 in Tampa. Â

Isaacson had a stellar first year with the Lions last season after transferring from Division I power Coastal Carolina. The then-junior led the entire NCAA Division II in saves last season with 14 while also excelling at the plate with team-highs in batting average (.346), doubles (17), homeruns (12), RBI (50), total bases (117), slugging percentage (.632), walks (29) and on-base percentage (.436). His 14 saves also tied a Saint Leo program record for saves in a season.

Coffel, who caught a team-high 10 base stealers last season, finished second on the team in putouts in 2018. He also did damage at the plate where he hit .333 while driving in 42 runs and cranking out six homeruns. He finished second on the team in both doubles (15) and triples (3) while scoring 30 runs for the Lions.

Wright posted the third best batting average on the squad last season at .335 while scoring a team-high 47 runs from his leadoff spot. He drove in 39 runs while posting eight doubles and two homeruns. He drew a team-high tying 29 walks and swiped 11 bases in 14 attempts.

Reimold is a junior transfer third baseman who joins the Lions from WVU Tech. Last season, he started and played in 46 games for WVU Tech while posting a .304 batting average and driving in 30 runs. He belted out seven homeruns and picked up 10 doubles on the season.
