SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's soccer team put together 17 shots against the visiting Royals of Queens University of Charlotte on Sunday. Despite efforts, the Lions fell 2-0 as they were unable to break past Royals' goalkeeper Rachel Quest, who earned six saves.
Bailey Hern led the Lions' attacked with six shots, three on frame. In addition to the shot count, Saint Leo (1-3) drew nine corner kicks while Queens (3-1) took one.
The Royals tallied their first goal in the 31
st minute off a free kick taken by Daniela Diaz. Lulu Phan secured the decision in the 76
th minute of the game with a shot from the top of the Lions' box.
Julia Ortiz earned three saves for an early season count of 18.
Embry-Riddle is set to host Saint Leo in the Lions' Sunshine State Conference opener on Saturday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m.
