DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's soccer team ended up on the wrong side of a second half scoring battle at Embry-Riddle Saturday night.
Carolina Solis-Deleon was the first to mark the scoreboard but the Lions' goal was overcome by a two-goal two-minute performance by the Eagles.
After 69 minutes of play, the Sunshine State Conference contest remained scoreless between Saint Leo (1-4, 0-1 SSC) and Embry-Riddle (3-2, 1-0 SSC). Freshman midfielder,
Carolina Solis-Deleon, scored the first goal of the night, her second of the season.
Stina Naess Berge netted the equalizer off a set play in the 77
th minute. Two minutes later, Ragnheidur Gardarsdo slotted a ball through the Lions' backline, setting up Maria Schmiedhofer's game-winner.
Saint Leo compiled nine shots in the 90 minutes led by
Adriana Tirado,
Raylyn Straubmuller and
Brooke Snoll with a pair each. In goal,
Julia Ortiz tallied a save.
Saint Leo returns home on Wednesday, September 19 to host the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at 7 p.m.
