Trinity Baptist outlasts men’s soccer offensive surge

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Hermon Constant's second half header goal wasn't enough to lift the Saint Leo men's soccer team over the Trinity Baptist Eagles on Wednesday. The 2-1 decision marks the Lions' fourth one-goal loss.

Saint Leo (2-6) took 14 shots while allowing only five shots by Trinity Baptist (2-7-1) during the first half. Despite the dominate Lion offense, Trinity Baptist scored in the 7th and 36th minutes.

The Green and Gold continued to apply pressure to the visitor's defensive line. Hermon Constant finished Mathis Hardy's cross to put the Lions on the board at the 55th minute. Saint Leo closed the game with 27 shots, but only Hermon's found its way to the back of the Eagles' net.

Wessel Berenschot tallied four saves in the net for a season total of 18.

Saint Leo returns to action in the Sunshine State Conference on Saturday, September 29 against Florida Tech. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. under the lights at Saint Leo Soccer Field.
