GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Saint Leo women's cross country took part in the University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational Saturday morning where the Green and Gold took 11th overall out of the 27 teams with a score of 327.
Laura Tobin paced the pride with a 38th place finish in 18:22.9, out of the 270 total runners.
Behind Tobin's top-40 race, four others finished inside the top-100 in
Ashley Lindeman (56th, 18:42.3),
Alyssa Bayliff (67th, 18:52.7), and
Noemi Anaya (88th, 19:10.3). The rest of the Lions' contingent fell in behind
Aoife Mahony (120th, 19:49.8), followed by
Sage Lyons (121st, 19:50.4),
Georgia Clode (125th, 19:52.6),
Rebecca Myers (209th, 22:19.7),
Heidi-Jay Churchill (215th, 22:32.6), and
Izabella Van Den Berg (246th, 24:36.2).
Host Florida won the overall race with a score of 80 where the Gators' Jessica Pascoe took medalist honors in a time of 16:13.9. Tampa was the top division II team with a score of 179 where the top DII runner was Embry-Riddle's Sarah Edens, clocking in at 17:30.7.
Saint Leo returns to the course on Sept. 29 when the Green and Gold travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to participate in the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
