AVE MARIA, Fla. - Saint Leo Men's and Women's Cross Country both placed third at the Ave Maria Invitational, highlighted by senior Rachel Jarrett placing first overall in the women's 5k.
The first race of the day was the men's 4 mile seeing freshman Paul Rivera lead the way with time of 21:16.4, placing sixth overall.
Rivera was followed by a freshman trio in Angelo Acosta, Santiago Rodriguez, and Jordan Seymore who placed 19th, 20th, and 21st, with times of 22:32.2, 22:32.4, and 22:34.7 respectively.
Junior Brandon Hill rounded out the scoring for the lions with a 36th place finish in 23:30.4. Freshman Jason Bracero Jr. and senior Sawyer Raveling also competed with times of 24:24.8 and 25:19.2 accordingly.
The women's 5k saw senior Rachel Jarrett have a remarkable showing as she dominated the field placing first overall by 12 seconds, crossing the line with and finishing with a personal best time of 19:15.5.
Freshman Delaney Glynn placed 26th overall with a time of 21:33.2. Glynn was followed by junior Dakotah Medows in 29th running 21:49.7, a seasons best. Freshman Maria Tejada was the fourth lion to cross the lion in 22:24.7, a personal best. Freshman Jasmine Fajardo finished out scoring in 41st place with a time of 24:01.5. Sophomore Carlee Bachman rounded out the day for the harriers, crossing the line in 26:41.8.
Both teams placed third overall and the cross country teams now look ahead to the Ed Holloway Classic hosted by Florida Southern next Fri. Oct. 17 which will close out the regular season.
