MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Saint Leo volleyball team traveled south to Barry University Friday night with hopes of ending the Buccaneers perfect season. The Bucs entered the match 10-0 on the season, having dropped just three sets all year. The Lions fought the entire match but Barry took advantage of the home court and came out victorious 3-0. Â

The Lions (5-6, 2-1 SSC) struggled to find their offensive rhythm hitting just .160 as a team while the Buccaneers (11-0, 3-0 SSC) swung at a .348 clip to defeat Saint Leo for the first time since the 2016 season.

Senior
Dallas Jasper and junior
Nina Vattovaz led the Lions with seven kills each as they both hit for a .353 percentage. Junior
Victoria Omoregie chipped in six kills and also had a strong hitting percentage at .333. In total, the Lions top three attackers had just two combined errors but the rest of the squad suffered 11 hitting errors in the match.

Cassandra Kamien dished out 24 assists while digging up six balls. Senior
Reggie Van Devender led the squad in digs with nine from her libero position.

Kristina Filimonova and Megi Buvinic combined for 31 kills for the Bucs as they both picked up double-doubles in the victory.

Barry won in straight sets 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17.

Saint Leo will quickly return to action tomorrow afternoon as the Lions travel to Lynn to take on the Fighting Knights at 4 p.m. Â
