BOCA RATON, Fla. – Less than 24 hours after dropping its first Sunshine State Conference match of the season the Saint Leo volleyball team showed its resilience by downing Lynn Saturday afternoon on the road, 3-1. The Lions dropped the opening set but did not back down as the swept the next three sets to earn the victory over the Fighting Knights.

Senior
Dallas Jasper and sophomore
Ashley Quero led the Saint Leo (6-6, 3-1 SSC) attack with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Jasper had a very efficient match hitting for a team-high .500 percentage while committing just two errors. Lynn (7-4, 1-3 SSC) had just one attacker reach double-figures as Sonja Udovcic had a team-high 14 kills.

Juniors
Victoria Omoregie (8),
Nina Vattovaz (8) and
Annabella Arcari (7) all came up just shy of double-figure kills while freshman setter
Cassandra Kamien came with four kills of registering her first career triple-double. Kamien finished the match with six kills, 46 assists and 12 digs.

In total, five Lions reached double-figures in digs led by senior
Reggie Van Devender who had 16 in the match. Freshman
Arlaina Stephenson added a career-best 15 digs as well. Â

Saint Leo dropped the opening set 25-22 before sweeping the final three sets 25-20, 25-21 and 25-20.

Saint Leo will return to the friendly confines of the Marion Bowman Activities Center next weekend as the Lions host Florida Tech on Friday, Sept. 21 for a 7 p.m., match followed by Embry-Riddle paying a visit to Saint Leo on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m.
