Lions’ second half surge falls short to No. 18 Wingate

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer two-goal second half surge fell short in a 3-2 decision against the No. 18 Wingate Bulldogs on Saturday.

Saint Leo (1-1) outshot Wingate (1-1) 18-15 but could not overcome the three-goal halftime deficit. The Lions' offense was generated by Elias Niesigk's goal, assisted by Hermon Constant, in the 55th minute. 12 minutes later, Niesigk found Dion Dozzell, who sunk a one-touch goal inside the box, his third goal in the first two contests of the season.

Junior goalkeeper, Christian Evans, collected three saves on the day.

The Lions return to action on the road at Montevallo on Friday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. Following the game in Alabama, Saint Leo will travel to Pensacola, Fla., to face West Florida on Sunday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m.
