thminute goal fell short in the Saint Leo women's soccer season opening 2-1 (OT) loss at Mississippi College on Friday.
Mississippi College (1-0) held a comfortable lead for most of the game after a ninth minute goal by Choctaws' junior midfielder, Katie Tyler. The Saint Leo (0-1) defensive line kept the game tight under the direction of junior goalkeeper
Julia Ortiz. Ortiz collected four saves.
In the 87
th minute, Solis-Deleon's electrifying first collegiate goal, assisted by
Laura Hallissey, sent the Lions and Choctaws to overtime. There, Mississippi College finished an assisted goal to steal the win.
On Sunday, September 2 the Lions turn around quickly to face the West Alabama Tigers in Livingston, Ala. starting at 1:00 p.m. (ET).
