SAINT LEO, Fla. – For the second time this week, senior
Jordan Pendleton and junior
Peyton Isaacson of the Saint Leo baseball team earned postseason awards. Pendleton, who was a NCBWA and D2CCA All-South Region selection, was named ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II Second Team All-South Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association Wednesday (May 23) afternoon. Isaacson, a Second Team D2CCA All-South Region selection earlier this week, was also selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America Committee.

A total of 17 Sunshine State Conference student-athletes were named to the two All-South Region teams with David Lebron of Tampa leading the way as the South Region Pitcher of the Year.

Pendleton led the Sunshine State Conference this season with three complete games while compiling an 8-1 overall record. His 3.06 ERA is third among starting pitchers in the SSC while his 81 strikeouts rank him 11
th in the league. He pitched 94.0 innings on the year to rank fifth in the league and held opponents to a .273 batting average. For his career, he had 61 career appearances with 39 starts. He compiled an impressive 28-10 record with a 4.57 ERA. His 28 victories rank him first in the Saint Leo record book for career wins just ahead of Dave Garcia who had 27 wins from 1993-96. Â

Isaacson appeared on the second team as the utility player for his role as a catcher, first baseman and a pitcher. He finished the year with a team-best .346 batting average while driving in a team-high 50 runs. He belted out 17 doubles and 12 homeruns while scoring 42 runs of his own. From behind the plate he threw out six base stealers and had just one passed ball. On the mound, he finished with 14 saves in 21 appearances with just one loss. His 14 saves tied him with
Chris Macca for the most saves in a single season in Saint Leo baseball program history. Macca achieved the feat during the 1995 season. He had a 4.26 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 19.0 innings pitched. He held opponents to a .222 batting average while allowing just five extra base hits.Â

Pendleton and Isaacson were two of 17 Sunshine State Conference student-athletes selected to the D2CCA All-Region Teams while Pendleton was one of 19 SSC athletes named to the NCBWA list.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.

The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Rudy Garbalosa of Lynn University. Also on the committee are Jim Gantt (Catawba College), Rick Giannetti (Dominican College), Matt Jones (Shippensburg University), Rob Penders (St. Edward's University), Kyle Poock (Winona State University), Jamie Detillion (Grand Valley State University) and Randy Betten (Cal Poly Pomona).

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 9,600 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
