SAINT LEO, Fla. – After play was suspended for 17 hours and 58 minutes in the bottom of the eighth, No. 25 Saint Leo and No. 16 Alabama-Huntsville resumed play Friday morning where the Lions took the game in the ninth inning with a walk-off single, 4-3. The Chargers evened the series with a walk-off grandslam in the second game to win 7-5.

Game One - #25 Saint Leo 4, #16 Ala.-Huntsville 3 (9 innings)
The Chargers came out of the gate quick with a three-run bomb in the top of the first inning. Saint Leo battled back and scored two in the bottom half to cut things to 3-2 UAH.Â
Neither team could score in the second, third or fourth innings before the Green and Gold tied the game in the bottom of the fifth.Â
Ashley Morris led off the inning and singled through the left side.Â
Shyanne DuBois came up and laid down the bunt and beat out the throw allowing the Lions to have two on and no outs.Â
Sarah Pauscher came to the plate and sacrificed herself allowing the two on base, Morris and DuBois, to advance to second and third beforeÂ
Alexis Miniet grounded out to first allowing Morris to come in to score. UAH would get out of the inning with a groundout stranding a Saint Leo runner.Â
Saint Leo would strand a runner in the sixth and seventh inning whereÂ
Alison Mitts got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh to strand three Chargers on base, holding the game to a 3-3 tie. The Lions and Chargers went to the eighth inning tied at 3-3 where Mitts sat down the side in order.Â
Bailey Burk led off for the Lions and was hit by a pitch.Â
Bailey McKenna gave herself up to move Burk to second forÂ
Brittany Creamer before things were halted in the bottom of the eighth.Â

When play resumed Friday morning, Creamer stepped up and drove the first pitch just foul. UAH would hold the Lions to no runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Alison Mitts held the Chargers to no runs in the top of the ninth, to give the Lions the walk-off chance.

Shyanne DuBois delivered a one out double to left center before freshman
Alexis Miniet was the hero of game one with a single to left center scoring DuBois from second.
Game Two - #16 Ala.-Huntsville 7, #25 Saint Leo 5
The Chargers got on the board in the bottom of the first in while holding the Green and Gold to no runs for the first two innings.

Ashley Morris tied things up with a double to left center driving in
Kacie Kelly.
Auria Mounts recorded a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the third to hold the game to a 1-1 tie through three. UAH added another run in the fourth inning on a solo-shot to left field; UAH 2-1.

Saint Leo would rally in the sixth inning with a four run top of the sixth. DuBois got things started with a lead off single up the middle before swiping second.
Bethany Kursch stepped to the plate with the tying run on second and drove a ball into the gap in right center allowing DuBois to come around to score.

The Lions wouldn't stop there and rode the momentum as Miniet took a pitch to the hand to put two on and no outs for the Green and Gold.
Alyssa Wash hit a pinch-hit triple down the right field line to plate Miniet and Kursch to take a 4-2 lead. The rally continued as an error by the pitcher allowed
Bailey McKenna, who reentered as a pinch runner at third, to score. The Lions headed to the bottom of the sixth with a 5-2 lead before Mitts stranded a Charger on base to eliminate the threat.

The Lions had nothing doing in the top of the seventh, holding a 5-2 lead with the trip to the World Series three outs away.
Â
A bases loaded walk allowed the Chargers to cut the lead to 5-3 before a walk-off grandslam made it a 7-5 UAH game two win.

Despite efforts to make the game three Friday night, weather in the immediate area caused for the final, winner takes all game to be scheduled for Saturday, May 19th at 10 a.m.
