Â
Game One - #24 Saint Leo 10, Barry 1 (6 innings)
Auria Mounts held the Buccaners to just three hits and a solo home run in game one of the afternoon where the Lions scored 10 runs to the Bucs one, yielding the game in six innings.
Â
Saint Leo scored one run in the first inning as
Sarah Pauscher singled up the middle to score
Kacie Kelly. The Lions added three runs in the second, third and sixth innings to take game one 10-1 in six innings.
Â
Mounts would close the door on her complete game win with three strikeouts; despite the Buccaneers efforts to pinch-hit different batters in the bottom of the sixth. Mounts struck out the side in the bottom half to end the game.
Â
Game Two - #24 Saint Leo 7, Barry 1
Saint Leo would score first for the third straight game against the Bucs as
Shyanne DuBois doubled to right field scoring
Ashley Morris to kick things off in the first inning. Barry would answer back with an RBI-single in the bottom half of the first, tying things at 1-1.
Â
Alison Mitts came in for relief for
Sara Neuman in the second inning, as the Bucs were threatening with one on and two outs. Mitts would hold the Bucs scoreless, as the Lions were scoreless as well for the second and third innings.
Â
Bailey McKenna's sacrifice fly out to center field would break the tie as Pauscher came in to push the Green and Gold ahead 2-1.
Â
Two more scoreless frames for the Lions were followed by a five-run seventh for Saint Leo. A fielding error by the Bucs' shortstop allowed DuBois to reach and
Bailey Burk to score. Pauscher's single to right field score Morris and Kelly while moving DuBois to third.
Â
A random play where Pauscher advanced to second saw DuBois score on a throwing error by the catcher to make it 6-1 Saint Leo. A frazzled Barry pitcher, would allow Pauscher to score on a wild pitch, for what would be the final run of the game; Saint Leo 7-1.
Â
Mitts came out for the seventh inning and recorded the first out with a pop up to short before a walk allowed a runner aboard. A fielding error for the Lions allowed two base runners before a sacrifice bunt pushed the runners to second and third.
Â
The senior from Belleville, Ill. retired the final batter with another pop up to third.
