TAMPA, Fla. – No. 19 Saint Leo softball traveled to Tampa and fell 1-0 to the Spartans Friday night to open up the Sunshine State Conference series.

Saint Leo (31-11, 15-10 SSC) recorded four hits on the night where

Sarah Pauscher and
Bailey McKenna each tallied a hit.
Alison Mitts pitched the complete game, allowing five hits and just one run with five strikeouts, moving to 11-6 on the year. The Green and Gold left five runners on base throughout the night but couldn't bring one around to take the lead, or tie the game.Â

The Spartans (24-15, 15-10 SSC) scored the winning run in the sixth inning on a single to center field.

Saint Leo and Tampa will return to the diamond at 11 am, moving the games up from the original 1 and 3 starts.
