LAKE NONA, Fla. –  No. 10 Saint Leo downed No. 50 Washburn 8-1 on Thursday. The non-conference match raised the Lions' record to 10-3, generated a two match win streak.

"We did not have our best energy in doubles today," expressed head coach Chad Berryhill. "But our singles play responded and we played a good match today."

Saint Leo handed in two doubles wins from no. 2 Marta Vicens Miquel and Andrada Gordan (9-7) and no. 3 Kristyna Jurkova and Sophie Vlietstra (8-2).

Momentum picked up leading to a singles sweep. The six matches won featured no. 1 Marta Vicens Miquel (6-1, 6-2), no. 2 Kristyna Jurkova (6-0, 6-1), no. 3 Maja Pindelska (7-5, 6-2), no. 4 Madeleine Gauthier (6-0, 6-3), no. 5 Fabiola Cardenas (7-5, 6-2), and no. 6 Andrada Gordan (6-2, 6-1).

Up next, Saint Leo is scheduled to battle No. 9 Academy of Art on Tuesday, March 27 at 3:00 p.m. at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.
