Women's Tennis Notes
  • Saint Leo is on a five-game winning streak, undefeated in the month of March. The 8-2 Lions have rolled over opponents 9-0 in their last three matches (Saginawa Valley State, Wayne State, Auburn Montgomery).
  • Kristyna Jurkova remains perfect at no. 2 singles with a 10-0 record.
  • Jurkova and Sophie Vlietstra are 5-0 together at no. 3. Madeleine Gauthier and Maja Pindelska have also racked up a 5-0 record in no. 1 doubles.
  • Illinois Springfield enters the West Florida Tournament 9-4 after dropping a 7-2 loss at West Alabama.
  • No. 5 West Florida will face Illinois Springfield at 9 a.m. and complete the full day against no. 13 Saint Leo. The Argonuauts have yet to visit the loss column with a 11-0 mark in the 2018 season.  
  • Georgia College blanked Concord 9-0 on Wednesday, earning the Bobcats third consecutive win.

Men's Tennis Notes
  • Undefeated Saint Leo (8-0) heads to West Florida Tournament for three straight days of action.
  • Earlier this week, the Lions claimed two more wins facing Wayne State (8-1) and no. 22 Auburn Montgomery (8-1).
  • Thomas Grinberg and Jamie Bueno enter the tournament 8-0 in singles play. Grinberg holds an 8-0 record in no. 1 singles while Bueno holds an 8-0 record from a 1-0 mark in no. 2 singles, 7-0 in no. 3.
  • Bueno and Willem van den Akker have yet to drop a doubles match together. The duo has tallied a 6-0 record in no. 2 doubles, 1-0 in no. 3.
  • Illinois Springfield dropped a 6-3 decision at West Alabama on Wednesday moving the Prairie Stars' record to 8-5.
  • No. 1 West Florida and Tournament host have racked up an 8-1 overall record. Entering the weekend, the Argonauts have a two-game winning streak. They defeated Florida Southern 7-2 on Sunday and no. 22 Auburn Montgomery 8-1 on Saturday. Before the top ten showdown with Saint Leo, West Florida will host NJIT and Illinois Springfield.
  • Georgia College Bobcats rolled over Emanuel (Ga.) 9-0 on Tuesday. The following day against Concord, the Bobcats another perfect 9-0 win, this time against Concord.

Track Notes
  • Saint Leo returns to Florida to compete in the UCF Black and Gold Challenge this Friday and Saturday.
  • On the men's side, Saint Leo turned in two top five times in the 3000-meter steeple chase. Joshua Sickinger's 10:05.52 time earned fourth while Tadgh McGinty finished fifth posting a 10:13.19 time. Anthony Deleva took first in the 10K in a time of 31:56.82, ahead of teammates Joe Fuller, fifth (33:29.84), and Ethan Markey, 10th (34:10.29).
  • For the women, Colett Rampf showcased another NCAA Provisional time to close out the Lions at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Rampf won the 3000-meter steeple chase handing in a time of 10:32.89. Alyssa Bayliff earned a second place finish in the 3000-meter with a time of 10:18.42, just shy of a minute in improving her personal record. Heidi-Jay Churchill also reset her personal record in the 3000-meter race. Churchill placed 35th crossing the line at 12:29.42.

Baseball Notes
  • No. 10 Baseball is coming off of a four game sweep of the University of Bridgeport in a series that started on Saturday and ended on Tuesday. The four wins extended the Lions' win streak to 15 games.
  • Saint Leo jumps back into conference play as they travel to Tampa for a three-game series this weekend.
  • The Lions have three guys batting over .385 on the year with Brett Coffel at .390, Peyton Isaacson at 386, and Amir Wright at .385. Coffel, Isaacson, and Wright make up three out of the top four RBI leaders on the team. The trio has a combined 68 RBIs on the year.
  • Peyton Isaacson leads the conferences in saves with eight on the year. Isaacson and Drew Tumbelty have been big bright spots out of the bullpen for the Lions. The two have a combined 12 saves, 19 strikeouts, and zero earned runs allowed over 22.2 innings pitched.
  • Tampa is coming with a 15-6 record. The Spartans beat up on Bridgeport in a single game on Wednesday, to bounce back from dropping two straight to Albany State.
  • Junior outfielder, Stephen Smith, leads the Spartans in batting average at .368 (32-87). Seniors, Darren Miller and Harrison Bragg have added the pop to the offensive as the classmates have a combined 10 home runs and 41 RBIs on the year.

Softball Notes
  • No. 9 Softball jumps back into conference play as they travel to St. Pete to take on Eckerd in a three-game series.
  • Saint Leo is coming off a four-game win streak after defeating Nova Southeastern in back-to-back games 4-1 and 7-6, before the Lions came back on Tuesday to sweep Caldwell  in a doubleheader 5-0 and 8-0.
  • Kacie Kelly, Ashley Morris and Sarah Pauscher represent the top three bats with batting averages of .419, .404, and .376. Amanda James has come on lately to provide a good spark in the lineup. The sophomore, won player of the week honors in the SSC after going 10-for-15 with four doubles and one home run. James put together a slash line of .667/.700/1.133.
  • The two workhorses for the Lions, Alison Mitts and Auria Mounts, are a combined 17-7 with four saves, 11 complete games, and 128 strikeouts over the 157.1 innings logged.
  • Eckerd has a 10-16, 1-8 SSC record coming into the weekend. The Tritons have been on a five-game slide after getting swept by conference foe Palm Beach Atlantic, 3-0 and then got swept by Flagler 2-0. Eckerd comes back for some much need home cooking as the Tritons are just 1-7 on the road compared to 7-7 at home.
  • Crystal Garcia and Nikole Van Gennep carries the offensive load for the Tritons as they either lead or hold a share of the lead in every major offensive category.
  • The Tritons have gone as many as five deep on their pitching staff. However, it is Nikole Van Gennep who has put in the majority of the work. Van Gennep comes in with an 8-8 record allowing 78 hits and striking out 54 batters over her 86.1 innings spent in the circle.
