SAINT LEO, Fla. – Each of the 10 players that played for the 17th-ranked Saint Leo baseball team scored at least one run Tuesday night at Thomas B. Southard Stadium where the Lions completed the series sweep of Bridgeport. Saint Leo improved to 19-2 on the year after taking the series 4-0 with a 13-6 finale. The Green and Gold used a four run second and a seven run fifth to overwhelm the Purple Knights.Â
For the series, the Lions outscored the Purple Knights 50-28.Â
Ryan Nolan got the nod for the Lions and picked up his first win of the season with 5.0 inning outing allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits. Nolan fanned two batters.

Joey Antonopoulos came in for three innings of relief work allowing one run one three hits before
Francis Ortiz came in for the top of the ninth and allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts.

Aaron Portee and
Derek Gibree each went 2-for-4 on the night where
Brett Coffel and
Jared Morello went 3-for-5.
Jake Sims and
Lane Stancil also tallied two hits on the night, each going 2-for-5.

Each player that stepped foot on the field for the Green and Gold scored at least one run. Coffel, Sims and Gibree led the team in scoring with two runs. Stancil, Morello,
Amir Wright,
Tate Sweatt, Portee,
Peyton Isaacson and
Zach Scott all scored one run on the evening.

Morello paced the team with three RBI, ahead of Portee and Isaacson with two each.

The Lions used four straight singles in the second inning to get up on the Purple Knights before Portee hit a double to score the final run of the inning.

Bridgeport cut the deficit to 4-2 after posting two runs in the fourth and made it a one-run game with one in the fifth before the Lions blew things wide open with seven in the bottom of the fifth.

Saint Leo would add one more run in the seventh to take a 12-3 lead before the Purple Knights scored one in the eighth and two in the ninth. The Lions last run would come in the eighth inning as Coffel hit a single to left field scoring

No. 17 Saint Leo will return to Sunshine State Conference action when they travel to Tampa, Fla. on March 16-17 for a first pitch Friday of 6 p.m.
