ORLANDO, Fla. –The No. 13 Saint Leo women's tennis team put out Auburn Montgomery 9-0 in a neutral match on Tuesday. The tidy win raises the Lions' overall record to 8-2.
Doubles play was made up by no. 1
Maja Pindelska and
Madeleine Gauthier (8-2), no. 2
Marta Vicens Miquel and
Andrada Gordan (8-2) and no. 3 duo
Kristyna Jurkova and Sophie Vliestra (8-4). The match marks no. 1 Pindelska and Gautheir's along with no. 3 Jurkova and Vliestra's fifth consecutive doubles victories.
In singles competition, Vicens Miquel took no. 1 (6-2, 6-0) followed by no. 2 Jurkova (6-2, 6-4), no. 3 Pindelska (6-3, 6-2), no. 4 Gauthier (6-2, 6-4), no. 5
Fabiola Cardenas (7-6, 6-4) and no. 6 Gordan (6-4, 6-2). No. 2 Jurkova has yet to drop a singles match this season.
Saint Leo stays on the road to compete at West Florida Tournament. Saint Leo will begin the three-day tournament on Friday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. (CT)/3:00 p.m. (EST) against the University of Illinois Springfield.
