SAINT LEO, Fla. – In a wild and windy game Monday night at Thomas B. Southard Stadium, the No. 17 Saint Leo baseball team once again complete a come back to win 13-12 over Bridgeport.

Saint Leo picked up win no. 18, moving to 18-2 on the year, after completing the comeback and defeating the Purple Knights (1-11) in the third straight game, taking the series 3-0 with one game to go.

The Lions four-five-six hole hitters all connected on two or more hits while
Brett Coffel went 3-for-5.
Chase Turner and
Zach Scott both went 2-for-4 from the plate while Coffel and Turner led the team with three runs scored.

Scott paced the team with four RBI while Coffel and Turner each had three.
Â
Shane Haight and
McCabe Sargent each pitched 4.0 innings while Sargent got the win after allowing just two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
Drew Tumbelty picked up his fourth save after tossing the final inning of play giving up one run on one hit.

Bridgeport opened the game with six runs in the top of the first before the Lions could answer back with four in the bottom half of the inning. Both teams went scoreless for the next two innings before the Purple Knights scored three more in the top of the fourth to take a 9-4 lead.

Saint Leo answered the Purple Knights' run in the fifth with three to cut it to 10-7 on a
Zach Scott three-run home run to right field.

The Lions tacked on two more in the seventh to make it 10-9 before the Purple Knights made it a two run game at 11-9 in the top of the eighth. A four run eighth allowed the Lions to come out on top 13-11. Standing on third with one out,
Derek Gibree scored on a wild pitch as Bridgeport tried to intentionally walk
Peyton Isaacson. Isaacson would eventually get the intentional walk before
Amir Wright scored on a
Brett Coffel hit a sacrifice fly to right field to tie it at 11-11.

With two outs, and Isaacson on first,
Chase Turner took the full count (3-2) deep to right field for a two-run home run, Saint Leo 13-11.

The Purple Knights made things interesting scoring a run with just one out before Tumbelty was able to retire the side with a groundout to Turner at third.

No. 17 Saint Leo and Bridgeport return to the diamond at 6 p.m. to close out the series at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.
