SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 13 Saint Leo women's tennis team beat Wayne State 9-0 defending home court on Monday. The win raises Saint Leo's overall record to 7-2, recording the Lions' fourth consecutive win.
The doubles teams got things going in the right direction for the Lions. No. 1
Maja Pindelska and
Madeleine Gauthier went 8-4. No. 2 made up by
Marta Vicens Miquel and
Andrada Gordan turned in an 8-1 decision. No. 3 duo,
Kristyna Jurkova and
Sophie Vlietstra took an 8-4 win.
Marta Vicens Miquel continued play in no. 1 singles landing a 6-1, 6-1 win. No. 2
Kristyna Jurkova battled in a three set match; 6-2, 6-7, 10-3.
Maja Pindelska topped no. 3 opponent 7-6, 6-4. No. 4
Madeleine Gauthier produced a 6-3, 6-4 win while
Fabiola Cardenas generated a no. 5 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Andrada Gordan snagged a no. 6 win; 6-4, 7-5.
On Tuesday, March 22 the Lions travel to Orlando, Florida to meet Auburn University Montgomery for a 3:00 p.m. match start.
