SAINT LEO, Fla. – Under the lights and light rain, the No. 17 Saint Leo baseball team rolled over Bridgeport to open up the four-game series across four days, 13-4 at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.

With the win, Saint Leo pushes its win streak to 12 games and moves to 16-2 on the season.
Â
Jordan Pendleton started the game for the Lions and pitched a strong 6.2 innings of work with three runs, two earned, on eight hits with eight strikeouts before leaving the game.
Â
Jake Sims came in for 1.1 innings of relief giving up no runs on no hits with two strikeouts.
Adnan Sator closed the game with one inning of work with one run on one hit and tallied one strikeout.

The Lions scattered 14 hits on the night with
Jared Morello going 3-for-3 to lead the way.
Amir Wright,
Aaron Portee and
Peyton Isaacson all went 2-for-4 on the night where Isaacson led the way with four RBI, ahead of Wright's three.

Wright scored three runs to pace the Green and Gold where
Chase Turner,
Derek Gibree and Morello all scored two runs. Portee, Isaacson,
Brett Coffel and
Zach Scott crossed the plate once on the night.

The Lions used seven runs in the second inning to take the lead after a one run first was surrendered to the Purple Knights. Bridgeport came back and scored two in the top of the third before the Lions scored four more runs in the bottom half to take a 11-3 lead after three innings.

With one out in the bottom of the sixth,
Zach Scott would score the 12th run of the game after hitting a triple to left center. Scott came in on a sacrifice fly to right field by
Lane Stancil, Saint Leo 12-3.

On
Peyton Isaacson's groundout to second base,
Amir Wright came across the plate for the 13th run of the game for the Green and Gold.

The Purple Knights added one more run in the ninth inning before
Adnan Sator closed the door as the final out was recorded on a fly ball to
Tate Sweatt in center field.

Saint Leo and Bridgeport return to the diamond for game two of the four-game series at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 11.
