BOCA RATON, Fla. – Saint Leo baseball opens Sunshine State Conference play up with a 3-0 record for the first time in 17 years. The Lions won 15-6 in the series finale at Lynn Sunday afternoon after scoring 12 runs in the final three innings. Saint leo improves to 10-2 overall on the year while the Green and Gold holds a 3-0 mark in SSC play.Â

As a team, Saint Leo scattered 13 hits to plate 15 runs behind
Amir Wright and
Chase Turner's 3-for-5 day at the plate. Wright paced the Green and Gold in runs scored with four on the day, while driving in three RBI, two shy of team leader,
Peyton Isaacson (5).
Zach Scott went 2-for-3 with two walks, a triple two runs scored.

Isaacson went 2-for-6 with one run scored, one double and one home run, a grandslam in the ninth inning.
Â
McCabe Sargent got the nod for the Lions to start game three of the series before
Oscar Gordillo came in for relief.
Joey Antonopoulos was the third pitcher used where he went 3.0 innings on the mound, giving up just one hit and no runs while fanning five batters.

Drew Tumbelty came in to pitch one inning allowing two hits and no runs, setting up
Shane Haight to close the door.

Trailing 4-0 in the top of the third, the Lions'
Jared Morello singled to center field scoring
Lane Stancil and
Amir Wright, Lynn 4-2. Saint Leo would cut it to one, 4-3, with a
Chase Turner double to left field, scoring
Brett Coffel.

Lynn got two runs back in the bottom of the third and fourth taking a 6-3 lead heading into the fifth.

Neither team would score in the fifth or sixth innings before Saint Leo added two runs in the seventh.

Peyton Isaacson would line a double down the right field line scoring Wright before Stancil came in on a Coffel sacrifice fly out, Lynn 6-5.

The Lions used four runs in the fourth to take the lead. Two base knocks, from Wright and Coffel, and a hard ground out, scored
Tate Sweatt,
Zach Scott,
Derek Gibree, and Wright to push the Lions ahead, 9-6.

In the top of the ninth, the Lions would add six insurance runs on the Fighting Knights as Scott hit a triple to right center scoring Turner, before touching home plate himself off a Wright single through the right side.
Lane Stancil would reach on a fielder's choice loading the bases with one out for the no. 4 hole hitter, Isaacson. Isaacson would hit a grandslam to push the Lions to a 15-6 lead.

Haight closed the door with three strikeouts in the bottom of the ninth; Haight got the first "K" looking, before the final two outs went swinging.

Saint Leo baseball returns to action on March 2 at 6 p.m. when Barry comes to Thomas B. Southard Stadium.
