BOCA RATON, Fla. – Saint Leo baseball's seven runs in the first two innings holds up as the Lions trump the Lynn Fighting Knights 7-4 in game two of the Sunshine State Conference series to open the year at 2-0 in SSC play.

The Lions batted around in the first inning, forcing a pitching change after eight batters while scoring four runs on four hits, but left three on base. The Lions used back-to-back-to-back doubles from
Lane Stancil,
Peyton Isaacson and
Brett Coffel to plate early runs before
Chase Turner hit a sacrifice fly to score the fourth run of the inning.

Getting out of the first inning quick,
Tyler Bauman, who got the nod for the Lions in game two of the series, made quick work getting two flyouts before allowing a walk and another fly out.

Saint Leo got right back to it scoring three runs on three hits in the second inning as Stancil singled to shortstop and came in on Isaacson's home run to right field. Coffel got on base via another double before coming in on a sacrifice fly out to first base to make it 7-0 Saint Leo.

The Lions held the Fighting Knights off until the fourth inning, before Lynn could score three runs on three hits.

Saint Leo wouldn't plate any other runs throughout the game but only allowed one more run to the Fighting Knights before going on for the 7-4 win.

Tyler Bauman pitched seven innings, allowed six hits and four runs while striking out three.
Joey Antonopoulos came in for one inning of work to setup
Peyton Isaacson who earned his sixth save of the season with one inning of work.

Isaacson came in for the ninth inning and worked a 1-2-3 inning with a foul out, ground out and fly out as the Lions picked up their second SSC win.
The 2-0 Sunshine State Conference series lead, in the SSC series opener, for the Green and Gold is the first since 2008 when Saint Leo led Florida Tech 2-0 after the first two games. The Lions defeated the Panthers 26-6 and 19-9 in the first two games.Â
