Women’s lacrosse rolls over UCCS 17-3

SAINT LEO, Fla. –  Saint Leo's 17-3 convincing win over the University of Colorado Colorado Springs raised the Lions' overall to 2-0 on Sunday.

Head Coach Caitlin Hansen said, "This was another really solid team effort for us. I am so pleased with how we shared the ball offensively and had 10 different people score goals. Everyone is doing their job on that end of the field and it has been fun to watch."

Hansen continued, "The real success for us today was on the defensive end though. Not only did we get a goal from one of our defenders but we held them to just three goals on the day and only one in the first half. That's a testament to the strength of our goaltending and overall defensive unit. UCCS came into this game scoring 48 goals over the span of two games. We needed our defense to have a big day and they definitely did."

The overwhelming Lions' attack was led by Leslie Ferguson with three goals after an early hat trick and two assists, along with Kaylah Walstad with two goals, three assists. Delaney Chrisco earned three goals off four shots, picked up two ground balls and won three draw controls.

Erin Davis earned the win in the net, allowing only one goal, saving four in 30 minutes of play.
