SAINT LEO, Fla. – The men's track team shattered three school records to open the 2018 season at the Embry-Riddle First Chance-Last Chance meet on Saturday. Among the many competing schools were Sunshine State Conference schools Embry-Riddle, Nova Southeastern, Florida Southern and Palm Beach Atlantic.
Niclas Bez won the 1000 meter race while resetting the Saint Leo school record to 2:27.31. The record was previously held by senior
Anthony Deleva.
Freshman Andrew Sands recorded a 7.55 second time in the 60 meter race, placing 28th, while downing Saint Leo's previous school record.
In the high jump, Paul McCrimon's ninth place 1.80m mark reset the Green and Gold record.
Freshman Hunter Chavis also had a strong career start in the 800 meter with a final time of 1:59.79, placing 10th.
Head Coach
Kent Reiber said "We had seven personal bests great to see this early, but, this is just a starting point. I am looking forward to further our training and head to Tampa."
Saint Leo travels to Tampa on Friday, March 2 for a 3:00 p.m. meet start.
