Late run not enough as men's basketball falls on the road at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – In a crucial Sunshine State Conference men's basketball matchup, the Saint Leo men's basketball team came out on the wrong end of the score falling to Lynn 77-68 Saturday afternoon.
 
Kyran McClure paced the Green and Gold in scoring with 16 points where Isaiah Hill and Daniel Duarte chipped in with 13 points each off the bench.

How It Happened…
1H | Lynn started off the game with a 10-6 lead four and a half minutes into the game before the Lions tied things at 10-10 with 14:24 to play. The Fighting Knights would run back out to a five point lead, 20-15 before the Lions closed the gap and took the lead with 6:20 to play in the opening half on a Kyran McClure three-pointer, 26-24 Lions. DeAndre King and Daniel Duarte would team up for five points to push the Green and Gold ahead 31-26 before Isaiah Hill tied things back up, after Lynn took a brief lead, at 33-33 with 3:25 to play. Tied at 35 all with under nine seconds to play, Daniel Duarte drained a three-pointer to put the Lions ahead by three at the break. | Saint Leo 38-35 |

2H | Lynn came out of the break on a 5-0 run to tie things at 40 with 18:12 to play. The Fighting Knights would regain the lead, 46-40 with 16:10 to play before controlling the rest of the game. Lynn pushed its lead out to 15 points with 10:50 to play, 61-46, before extending it to 19 points with just under five minutes to play, 74-55. Points to Note
  • Kyran McClure paced the Green and Gold with 16 points on 6-14 shooting from the field including a 4-7 mark from downtown. McClure snagged six rebounds and dished out two assists.
  • Isaiah Hill chipped in 13 points off the bench for the Lions with five rebounds where Daniel Duarte tallied 13 points as well. Duarte finished with one assist, one rebound, one steal and one block.
For Lynn
  • Lynn saw four players in double-figures led by Jamal Palmer with 27 points on an 11-16 night from the field. Palmer added a 5-7 night from beyond the arc.
  • Rasheed Worrell and Michael Baez each notched 10 points and nine rebounds on the day where Allen Baez scored 10 and dished out eight dimes.
Next Up
Saint Leo remains on the road Feb. 21 when the Lions make a trip to St. Petersburg to take on Eckerd at 7:30 p.m. as the last road game of the regular season.
