Buccaneers power past men's basketball Saturday in an SSC showdown

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo used 22 bench points to battle the Barry Buccaneers Saturday night but ultimately came up on the short end as the Bucs won 88-75.

Daniel Duarte scored a team-high 21 points on an 8-for-11 night from the field. Duarte added a 4-for-5 night from downtown. DeAndre King added 16 points to the mix, going 6-for-10 from the field and 4-for-8 from downtown. King dished out a team high eight assists while hauling in five rebounds.

Jesse Huff came off the bench and scored a quick nine and ended the game with 14 on 5-of-7 from field; Huff added a 4-for-5 mark from downtown.

"I think our guys battled tonight against a good team in Barry," Head Coach Vince Alexander mentioned after the game. "We hit some big shots, but down the stretch our inexperience against their experience showed and we couldn't match them. We missed some easy shots and had bad turnovers, but we will continue working on protecting the ball and look to next Saturday's matchup in Boca Raton."
