SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo suffered its first loss of the season, 71-50, from the hands of Lee on Saturday in the Marion Bowman Activities Center to close the GSC/SSC Challenge.
Saint Leo (1-1) was led by
Alani Gallagher with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals. Off the window,
Casey Wortley snagged seven rebounds (one offensive, five defensive).
Lee's (1-1) hot start in the third quarter turned into a blaze, outscoring the Lions 24-7. In addition to their offensive burst, the Lady Flames scored 29 points off of Saint Leo turnovers.
How It Happened
- Lee held a 17-14 lead after the first quarter with six separate shooters contributing points.
- Delaney Bernard went 2-for-2 in three-pointers in the second quarter for Saint Leo.
- The Lions outrebounded the Flames 18-16 in the first half. Alexis Drake and Olivia Lough each gobbled up four rebounds.
- Saint Leo entered the second half down by three; 30-27, after a 13-13 second stanza.
- Lee opened the third with a 7-0 run before it was snapped by Alani Gallagher's jumper and a pair free throws.
- Saint Leo was sent to the charity stripe 29 times, converting 20 into points. Lee went 5-for-7 on the line.
- Lee's offense was led by Abby Bertram and Haley Schubert with 16 points each. Jordan Wright hauled in eight rebounds for the Lady Flames.
