BOCA RATON, Fla. – Saint Leo and Lynn each claimed the better half of the Sunshine State Conference game Saturday night. The Lions jumped to a two-goal lead while the Fighting Knights netted two of their own in the latter 45 minutes of regulation. After two overtime periods, the contest concluded at a 2-2 draw.
Carolina Solis-Deleon found the back of Lynn's net off a free kick in the 17
th minute, her fifth season goal as the Lions' scoring leader.
A series of connected passes was finished by
Brianna Thompson who slipped by the Fighting Knights' keeper for the 2-0 lead in the 43
rd minute. Thompson was assisted by
Kelli Hippenmeyer and
Cassidy Place.
In the second half, Saint Leo outshot Lynn but saw the hosts tie up the game in the 76
th minute.
In total, Saint Leo cranked out 26 shots. On the other end of the field,
Julia Ortiz made three stops in 110 minutes of work in the net.
On Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m. the Lions face Webber International in non-conference action at the Saint Leo Soccer Field.
