SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo played down a goal for 84 minutes against the Lynn Fighting Knights. With five seconds remaining,
Elias Niesigk scored the equalizer forcing overtime. A converted penalty kick, award to Lynn, in the 104
th minute decided the game, 2-1.
Saint Leo (2-9, 0-6 SSC) took 13 shots, placed two on frame while Lynn took 17 shots, five landing on frame. The Fighting Knights drew six corners over the Lions' three.
The early Fighting Knights' goal came from the first corner of the game. Max Herbert put the ball in play while Bruno Sanitz earned the header goal.
After the thrilling last second goal by Niesigk, Saint Leo saw Jack Watson convert the awarded penalty kick for the Fighting Knights.
In goal,
Christian Evans earned three saves after 105 minutes of work. Roberto Bazzichetto protected the Fighting Knights' net for 89:55 minutes. Julian Carrillo finished the work in goal.
On Wednesday, October 10 the Lions travel to Flagler for non-conference against the Saints, starting at 7 p.m.
