Volleyball Notes
  • Saint Leo hits the road for the final time this weekend with matches at #16 Palm Beach Atlantic and Nova Southeastern.
  • The Lions have won two-straight against the Sailfish including a 3-1 victory earlier this season at home. The Lions' 3-2 victory in West Palm Beach last season over the then-No. 3 ranked Sailfish snapped an eight-match losing streak for the Lions in the series.
  • Saint Leo has won seven of the last 10 matches in the all-time series against Nova Southeastern. The Sharks snapped a four-match win streak by the Lions in the series earlier this season. NSU's last victory in Fort Lauderdale over the Lions came on Nov. 14, 2015, a 3-2 win.
  • The Lions used a balanced attack against the Sailfish earlier this season as five Lions finished with eight or more kills led by Nina Vattovaz with 13. The junior also had 12 digs and four blocks in the victory. Against the Sharks, juniors Victoria Omoregie and Annabella Arcari led the way with 13 kills each.
  • Palm Beach Atlantic has won 11-straight matches heading into this weekend. The Sailfish had just one attacker reach double-digits against the Lions in the first meeting this season as Amber Rowoldt finished with 14 kills. PBA will look for Rowoldt (3.36 kps) and Raegan Grooms (3.08 kps) to lead the way in the rematch.
  • Nova Southeastern has dropped eight of its last 10 matches heading into this weekend. The Sharks were led by Denvyr Tyler-Palmer (15 kills), Maddie Uilk (12 kills) and Kim Blasko (12 kills) against the Lions earlier this season. Tyler-Palmer has been the go-to offensive threat for the Sharks this season as she is averaging 3.94 kills per set which is nearly two kills per set more than her next highest teammate.
