SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University Vice President of Athletics and Wellness
Marcal Lazenby announced the appointment of
Sean Forrester as the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. Forrester returns to Saint Leo University after previously serving as the Lions' Manager of Athletic Communications from 2018-21.
Â
With nearly 20 years of experience in collegiate athletic communications at both the NCAA Division I and Division II levels, Forrester oversees the strategic communications efforts for Saint Leo University's athletics department while leading the promotion of the university's student-athletes, coaches, and 21 varsity sports.
Â
"We are excited to have
Sean Forrester return to Saint Leo University to lead our Athletic Communications office," said Lazenby. "Sean has a strong background in both the profession as well as the Sunshine State Conference. I am looking forward to his addition to the leadership here at Saint Leo and we are thrilled to have him return to the One Pride family."
Â
Prior to rejoining Saint Leo, Forrester spent five years as Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at Florida Southern College, where he served as the primary communications contact for volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track, and men's lacrosse. In addition to sport oversight, he helped manage the department's social media presence, served as lead copy editor, and assisted with photography, videography, and broadcasting.
Â
During his first tenure at Saint Leo, Forrester was the primary communications contact for volleyball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's outdoor track, baseball, and beach volleyball while also serving as the department's lead copy editor and assisting with digital content, photography, videography, and broadcasts.
Â
"I first want to thank Marcal (Lazenby), Dawn (Boltin) and Jesse (VerVelde) for their confidence in me to fulfill this role," said Forrester. "Ever since I joined the Saint Leo University Department of Athletics back in 2018, I have had in the back of my mind the idea of one day leading the communications efforts for the department. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Florida Southern College but I am excited to get started back at Saint Leo to help elevate the wonderful stories of the excellent student-athletes, coaches and staff."
Â
Before arriving at Saint Leo in 2018, Forrester gained extensive experience at several NCAA institutions, including Western Carolina University, Coastal Carolina University, the University of Montevallo, Pennsylvania State University, Villanova University, and the University of Tampa. Throughout his career, he has managed media relations for numerous sports, coordinated championship events, produced publications and game notes, overseen statistical operations, developed digital content, and worked closely with local, regional, and national media.
Â
A 2007 graduate of Lock Haven University, Forrester earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration, where he began his career in athletic communications as a student member of CoSIDA (now College Sports Communicators).
