TAMPA, Fla. – Saint Leo University's women's cross country team finished the 2018 regular season with a bang as the Lions claimed first in the non-Division I standings at the South Florida Invitational behind
Ashley Lindeman's second place finish.

The Lions topped Sunshine State Conference favorite Embry-Riddle by 11-points (46 to 57) to take home first place. Tampa took home third for the SSC school's top-three places.

When asked about the race and the first place win at the South Florida Invitational to close out the regular season, Head Coach
Kent Reiber stated "Lions Gotta Eat."

Ashley Lindeman took second to an unattached Florida Gators runner in a time of 19:07.70.
Paige Patterson and
Laura Tobin joined Lindeman in the top-five with a fourth and fifth place finish, respectively. Patterson ran the 5K course in a time of 19:10.71 where Tobin crossed the line at 19:28.10.

Noemi Anaya took 13th to put four Green and Gold runners in the top-15 with a time of 19:57.44.
Aoife Mahony (27th, 20:49.88) and
Sage Lyons (30th, 21:06.49) finished inside the top-30 for Saint Leo.
Heidi-Jay Churchill (52nd, 22:46.37),
Rebecca Myers (55th, 23:03.99),
Izabella Van Den Berg (71st, 25:58.16) and
Anapaula Rios Rosales (76th, 27:24.30) each took to the course for the Lions.

The race concluded the regular season for the Green and Gold where the Lions look to the Sunshine State Conference on Nov. 3 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
