Men’s Swimming Hosts Florida Tech in Season Opener

Lions take on the Panthers at 3 p.m. on Friday

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Coming off a very successful 2017-18 season, the Saint Leo men's swimming team returns to the pool Friday afternoon to open the 2018-19 campaign. The Lions finished last season ranked tied for 10th in the final TYR/CSCAA Top-25 poll and look to continue to move up those rankings this season.

The Lions will open the season at 3 p.m. against the Florida Tech Panthers at the Marion Bowman Aquatics Center on campus. Admission is free to all those who wish to attend.

The Lions went 5-1 last season in dual meets and were perfect at home. Saint Leo returns six swimmers who earned CSCAA All-America honors last season including junior Christian Cioffi, junior Henrik Dahrendorff, senior Clayton Howerton, junior Matija Rafaj, junior Michael Southward and junior Luka Vulic. This group will look to lead the Lions to bigger and better accomplishments in 2018-19.

The men also have seven talented newcomers who will add to the mix this season including a pair of transfers. Yann Corbel joins the Lions from Dinard, France as a graduate student with two years of eligibility remaining while Fridtjov Mork, a native of Oslo, Norway, joins the program after one season at Limestone College. The other five newcomers enter the team as freshmen and call Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin and Sweden home.
