AS A JUNIOR (2017-18)
Five-time CSCAA All-American (800 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 400 Med Relay (HM), 200 Med Relay (HM), 200 Back (HM))… competed in two individual events and four relays at the NCAA Division II Championships… took 16^th in the 200 backstroke and 30^th in the 200 freestyle… helped the Lions place fifth in the 800 freestyle relay and sixth in the 400 freestyle relay… also part of the 10^th place 400 medley relay and 16^th place 200 medley relay… posted three top-10 finishes at the Sunshine State Conference Championships… took second as part of the 800 freestyle relay… placed sixth in the 200 backstroke and seventh in the 100 backstroke.

CAREER
Transferred to Saint Leo from Indian River State College, where he was the NJCAA 2017 national champion in the 100 Backstroke and finished third in the 200 Backstroke… at Bartram Trail HS, Howerton finished third in the 100 Backstroke at both the 2013 and 2014 FHSAA state championship… was also third in the 100 Free at the 2014 FHSAA meet… swam for Bolles School Sharks club team.

PERSONAL
Born December 31 in Anderson, S.C…. favorite athlete is Cam Newton, and favorite team is the Carolina Panthers… chose Saint Leo because of the team atmosphere with the swim program… son of Clay and Mary Howerton… has four sisters: Mary Heather, Hope, Hailey, and Hannah.
