SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's tennis team announced the Lions' 2019 schedule. The Green and Gold will play 17 matches in the regular season, including 11 home matches at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.
Saint Leo will host Gustavus Adolphus to open 2019 on February 5 at 3 p.m. Wayne State (March 7), Walsh (March 8), Ferris State (March 12), Academy of Art (March 26), and West Florida (April 6) will all make the trip to Saint Leo for non-conference action.
On February 16, the Lions will be tested by its' first Sunshine State Conference opponent of the season, the Lynn Fighting Knights. In addition, Saint Leo is set to host SSC foes Florida Tech (March 21), Nova Southeastern (March 24), Eckerd (April 2), and Embry-Riddle (April 17).
Lions fans will see a number of rule changes while cheering on the Green and Gold at the Saint Leo Tennis Center. Among the list of changes, the final score of matches will now be best of seven team points. Scoring at the NCAA Division II level will now match Division I scoring. The team that wins two-of-three doubles matches receives one point. No-ad scoring will be used for both doubles and singles matches. In addition, doubles sets will now be played to six instead of the previous eight game pro set.
