Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer tripped up by Moccasins Saturday night

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Saint Leo men's soccer fell to Florida Southern 4-0 Saturday night in Sunshine State Conference play.
 
The Lions (1-5, 1-2 SSC) saw Hermon Constant rip off four shots on the night to lead the attack which tallied eight total shots. Constant notched one of the two shots on frame for the Green and Gold where keeper Wessel Berenschot started between the posts and made four saves on the night.

How It Happened

2'| The Moccasins jumped on the Lions early with a goal from Christoph Gums off a rebound from a free kick by Romain Voirin. | FSC 1-0 | 
9'| Gums tacked on his second goal of the night with a pass from Edward Spansk to put the Mocs up 2-0 in the first 10 minutes of play. | FSC 2-0 |
37'| Dani Morillo got in the goal column after a pass from Gums found him on the right side, putting it past the keeper. | FSC 3-0 |
49'| Rene Rivera teamed up with James Smith to put the fourth and final goal for the Mocs on the board after Rivera whipped it in from the right side finding Smith for the goal. | FSC 4-0 |

Points to Note
  • The loss snaps the Lions seven game win streak against the Mocs. The last FSC win was 2011, when the Mocs won 4-0.
  • Saint Leo falls to 1-5, 1-2 SSC after the 4-0 setback.  
For the Opponent – Florida Southern
  • Florida Southern picked up its first win over the Lions since 2011.
  • The Mocs earned their first SSC win of the year moving to 1-1 in conference play.
  • FSC ripped off 16 shots on the night compared to eight with eight on frame.

Saint Leo will travel to Melbourne, Fla. for its next contest on Sept. 29 at Florida Tech. The Lions return home on Oct. 1 to host West Florida at University Soccer Field.
