Palmer's goal in 89' lifts men's soccer past Argos 1-0 Sunday

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Tyler Palmer's goal in the 89th minute lifted the Saint Leo men's soccer team past West Florida Sunday afternoon at University Soccer Field. Keisuke Ohata slipped a ball through the box and found Palmer who laced it to the far side of the net for the lone goal in the game.
 
Following the Lions' goal, the Argonauts rushed down the field and received a corner kick before Saint Leo could fend off the West Florida last chance effort. The two teams played an even match where the Saint Leo edged West Florida in shots 10-8 and corner kicks 6-5.

How It Happened

| Keisuke Ohata found himself standing at the top of the 18 with the ball and slipped a pass through the left side of the box where Tyler Palmer was streaking into the box. Palmer laced one past the Argos' keeper for the lone goal late in the game. | Saint Leo 1-0 |

  • Saint Leo snapped a two game skid after a late goal lifted the team past West Florida.
  • Tyler Palmer scored his second goal of the season after Keisuke Ohata found Palmer on the back side of the box. Palmer led the team with four shots Sunday. 
  • Keeper Conor McElhinney, who played the full 90 minutes in goal, tallied three saves on the day and moves to 2-2 on the season.

  • The Argonauts fall to 3-5 on the year after playing a solid contest on the road.
  • West Florida tallied eight shots with two on frame.
  • Jacob Murray played the full 90 minutes between the posts and tallied one save on the Lions 10 shots.
