Campos goal in 109th minute lifts men’s soccer to SSC win over Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore Guillaume Campos' game-winning goal in the 109th minute lifted Saint Leo men's soccer to a 2-1 double-overtime win over Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, spoiling the Eagles' Sunshine State Conference opener at ERAU Soccer Stadium.
 
Campos buried the game winner past ERAU keeper Richard Dearle with a header off free kick by Armin Bajric.
 
Campos also netted the game-tying marker with an unassisted goal in the 86th minute. The two goals were the first collegiate scores for Campos, who has seen most of his playing time for Saint Leo on the back line.

  • Saint Leo improved to 1-3-0 overall, giving Head Coach Tony Paris his first victory at the helm of Saint Leo men's soccer. The victory was the 35th overall for Paris on a Saint Leo touchline, including his 34 win as the Lions' head women's soccer coach from 2000 to 2005.
  • Saint Leo is improved to 4-0 against Embry-Riddle since the Eagles began the transition to NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference.
  • Saint Leo was outshot by Embry-Riddle, 12-11, with each team charting five shots on goal. Campos accounted for three of those shots and two SOG.
  • ERAU had eight corner kicks to Saint Leo's five.
  • Keeper Conor McElhinney recorded four saves in the Saint Leo goal and picked up his first collegiate win of the year.
