A trio of Lions earn All-SSC Volleyball accolades

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Saint Leo volleyball saw three players earn All-Sunshine State Conference honors in Britt Sederholm, Anna Garrett, and Ashley Quero, announced by the league's office on Tuesday. Sederholm and Garrett were named to the All-SSC Second Team where Quero was named to the All-SSC Newcomer Team.
 
The accolades were the first for all three players in their careers. Sederholm finished the regular season third on the Lions' squad in kills with 215, while adding 259 digs, third on the team. Sederholm's 259 digs on the season pushed her over 1,000 career digs. Sederholm tallied 27 assists, 20 aces, and 24 blocks on the year.
 
Anna Garrett paced the Lions with 1,013 assists on the season with 9.47 assists per set. The sophomore landed 67 kills and scooped up 198 digs on the regular season. Garrett added 24 aces and 38 blocks to her season total.
 
Ashley Quero was the team leader in kills, 283, and kills per set, 2.70, where she finished her first regular season with 80 digs, 34 blocks, 10 aces and two assists.
 
The Saint Leo trio led the Lions to a 22-6 record and a 16-4 mark in the Sunshine State Conference, finishing third in the standings before the Lions earned a fifth-seed bid in the NCAA South Region Tournament. On the year, the Lions held a 2-2 record against top-25 opponents with a 3-1 win over then-no. 7 Minnesota Duluth (Sept. 2), and then-no. 3 Palm Beach Atlantic (Oct. 27), for the program's first win over the Sailfish.
 
The Lions, who will be making their fifth-straight appearance in the NCAA tournament, will face fourth-seed North Alabama on Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. on the campus of Florida Southern College, who received the no. 1 seed and hosting rights.
