SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 19th-ranked Saint Leo University volleyball team defeated Lynn in four sets (25-13, 26-24, 23-25, 25-22) as three players notched double-digit kills inside the Marion Bowman Activities Center Friday night. The Lions improve to 11-1, 6-1 Sunshine State Conference behind Annabella Arcari's 11 kills and Britt Sederholm's double-double, 10 kills and 15 digs.

Dallas Jasper joined Arcari and Sederholm in double-digit kills with 10 on a .318 clip. Anna Garrett tallied 42 assists on 131 attempts. Jenya Kruglova, Reggie Van Devender and Paloma Da Silva each racked up double-digit digs, where Kruglova led the team with 16. Van Devender added 12 and Da Silva 11. With the win, Saint Leo moves to 5-0 in four-set matches and pushes their win streak to five matches. The Lions move to 2-1 on their home court for the season.

SAINT LEO 25-13 | The Lions opened the first set on a 4-1 run before the Fighting Knights cut it to one, 5-4. Saint Leo would go on a 5-0 run before Lynn called a timeout at 9-4. The Green and Gold would roll out of the timeout and push their lead to 10, 15-5, forcing another timeout. Saint Leo would outscore the Fighting Knights 10-8 down the stretch taking the first set on a team hitting percentage of .444.

SAINT LEO 26-24 | Lynn would jump all over the hot Lions and take a commanding 10-5 lead before Saint Leo head coach Sam Cibrone called a timeout to talk things over. Out of the timeout, the Lions closed the gap to one, 11-10, where Ashley Quero tallied two kills and Annabella Arcari one during the run. The rest of the second set would be close where both teams would hold a one point lead heading to a 22-22 set. A bad set from the Fighting Knights Sonja Udovcic would put the Lions up 23-22 and see another timeout from Lynn. An attack error from the Lions would knot things up at 24-24 before an error and a ball handling error from the Fighting Knights would hand the second set to the Lions.

LYNN 25-23 | The Lions came firing in the third trying to put the match away quick with a 6-1 opening to the third set. The Fighting Knights wouldn't go down easy and, with nothing to lose, rallied back to tie things at 11-11 after momentum was sucked out of the air with a Lions attack error. Saint Leo answered the Lynn run and went up by three, 16-13, but was unable to hold onto it as the Knights charged once away tying things 23-23. A kill by Lynn and an attack error would end the third set in favor of the Fighting Knights.

SAINT LEO 25-22 | The fourth set between the Lions and Fighting Knights would open with back-and-forth play where Lynn took an early lead, 6-4. Back-to-back kills by Paloma Da Silva would push Saint Leo even with Lynn, 6-6. Lynn won the race to 10, but the Lions came back and tied things at 10-10 and went out to a 12-10 lead after a 6-0 run. The Fighting Knight woes continued out of their timeout as three straight attack errors caused for a 15-10 Saint Leo lead and another quick timeout. The Lions would hold their lead for the rest of the match, where the Fighting Knights closed within one, 23-22 before Victoria Omoregie slammed one down to put the match point on the line. Paloma Da Silva finished things off with a kill from Jenya Kruglova to end the match.

Saint Leo will take the weekend off before hosting Florida Southern in a rescheduled game from Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10 inside the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
